Bundles of Love
About
Here's My Story
I am Emily DiCeglio, a 17 year old with dreams of becoming a pediatric nurse. Since I was a child, my baby blanket brought me comfort, and to this day, it still holds true. During these challenging times of a pandemic, my heart went out to all the hospitalized children feeling scared, lonely and isolated. I thought of Florence Nightingale’s words, “People say the effect is only in the mind. It is no such thing. The effect is on the body too. Little as we know about the way in which we are affected by form, by color, and light, we do know this, that they have an actual physical effect. Variety of form and brilliancy of color in the objects presented to patients, are actual means of recovery.” These words tapped into my creative mind, heart, and soul and thus, my project was born: Bundles of Love.
Since March, I have made 400+ blankets and delivered to hospitals in N.Y.C. and Long Island, N.Y., as well Ronald McDonald Houses. The supportive and kind feedback, from both pediatric patients and medical professional staff, has been so heartwarming. These words fill my heart with so much joy knowing that I am making a difference in a child's life.
